2-day-long non-residential training program under JJM by USTM at Nongpoh Meghalaya

NEDP Staff Report, 16th February, 2023: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) organized a 2-day-long non-residential training program at the indoor stadium at Saiden, Nongpoh which began from yesterday. A total of 100 participants from different villages of Ri Bhoi attended the training. All of them were VWSC (Village Water Sanitation Committee) members. USTM is the empanelled Key Resource Centre of Jal Jeevan Mission under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

In the inaugural session, Dr Nibedital Paul PD KRC JJM USTM welcomed all the participants of the training, and explained the importance of the training. Er. P K Chakroborty, Senior expert, USTM explained that KRCs are now partners of PHED and will mainly help the department by providing required training under Jal Jeevan Mission to build the capacity of all stakeholders for its successful implementation.

Er. A. Sunn, SDO PHE Nongpoh addressed the participants and mentioned the key objective of JJM. District PHED officials Dameki Blah, Kit Khyriam, Nishon Massar were the key officials who attended the training to support the training program. Marie Kharsati, State Capacity Building and Training Coordinator and Werlang Buhphang from PHED Chief Engineer Office, Shillong, also attended the program along with DPMU officials Evangel Kharkongor, Micky Syngkli, Pynshai Dame Surong, Raplang Syiem, Pynshailin Rani, Acenta Khasaim. Training Coordinator Rituparna Borkataki managed and coordinated, and reported from Nongpho.
