Congress MP Karti Chidambaram Defends Udhayanidhi Stalin’s ‘Sanatana Dharma’ Remarks

Congress Member of Parliament, Karti Chidambaram, has come forward to defend Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s recent comments regarding ‘Sanatana Dharma,’ dismissing them as a ‘mischievous spin.’ Chidambaram suggests that ‘Sanathana Dharma’ is a reference to a ‘Caste Hierarchical Society.’

Taking to social media, Chidambaram stated, “In the common parlance of Tamil Nadu, ‘Sanathana Dharma’ signifies a Caste Hierarchical Society.”

He further questioned, “Why is it that everyone advocating for ‘SD’ belongs to the privileged segment benefiting from the ‘Hierarchy’? There was no call for ‘Genocide’ against anyone; this is a mischievous spin.”

Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, has sparked a nationwide political controversy with his remarks about ‘Sanatana Dharma.’ BJP leaders have strongly criticized Stalin for deeming Sanatana Dharma ‘incompatible’ and calling for its eradication.

BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla stated, “This is nothing short of a genocidal call, and it has been endorsed by Karti Chidambaram of the Congress party… The question is whether this is a ‘Shop of Love’ or a ‘Supplier of Hatred’?… This is part of a long pattern of opposing ‘Sanatana.'”

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also expressed his disagreement with Stalin’s comments on Sanatana Dharma, noting that it has revealed the reality of some individuals in Tamil Nadu.

“Just a few days ago, we organized Kashi Tamil Sangamam, and Lord Vishwanath is celebrated in every village in Tamil Nadu… ‘Sanatana’ is eternal, and political remarks will not change that,” Pradhan remarked.

Udhayanidhi Stalin’s statement on Saturday declared, “Sanatana is like malaria and dengue, and thus it must be eliminated rather than opposed.”

These remarks have ignited a substantial backlash on social media, with many individuals calling for legal action against the Tamil Nadu minister.

Amit Malviya from the BJP criticized MK Stalin and commented on social media, stating, “While Rahul Gandhi speaks of the ‘Shop of Love,’ Congress ally DMK’s scion talks about eradicating Sanatana Dharma.”

Malviya also accused Congress of silently supporting this genocidal call, adding, “INDIA Alliance, true to its name, would annihilate the millennia-old civilization that is Bharat if given an opportunity.”
